A fresh look at Persian rugs; the art of maintaining, transforming and updating a historical tradition by creating unique and modern pieces to dress spaces with essence, subtlety and harmony.
DAC RUGS collaborates with Pappenpop, in the creation of its latest carpet collection: Ornate. The series, composed of five models, stems from the illustrator’s admiration and passion for classical Persian rugs, but also from her desire to transform those sumptuous compositions, with her palatial graphics, into something softer and calmer. Totally handmade, they have been hand knotted using materials such as wool and viscose.
Ornate by Pappenpop manages to embellish any room by bringing a touch of elegance to contemporary houses and spaces. Paula Pappenheim’s creative talent from Pappenpop has transformed the ornaments and decorations of the past into something fresh and contemporary to convey calm and warmth through the use of soft and tonal colors. The designs highlight the great attention to detail, the richness of elements and the play of symmetries – seal it of all Pappenpop’s works.
“This project has been a challenge for me. The method of work and the thorough artisan production of DAC RUGS marked my original idea and inspiration when addressing this project, making me focus on designs of defined and delicate lines, few colors and, above all, on the attention to detail and the execution of forms. What a priori was a limit is what, finally, has conferred that special charm on the Ornate collection: respect for the past and the art of maintaining and renewing traditions while rescuing the essentials, ”says Pappenpop.
With Ornate, the Madrid artist has set out to move the Pappenpop universe to the ground from a serene, warm and welcoming style. The choice of color responds to the inspiration of the collection and the palette is full of pale gray in warm and cold tones, mixed with more powerful touches rescued from the Persian color: gold / ocher, red / wine and blue / indigo”
